Our spotlight on Edvard Munch (1863-1944) examines the life and legacy of the 20th century's most recognizable Norwegian artists. Through a comprehensive but accessible introduction to the oeuvre of the artist, we will explore Munch’s role and contribution to modern art history. While analyzing autobiographical information to better grasp the inspiration sources of this complex artist, we will proceed to an in-depth analysis of his most iconic works such as “The Scream.”
During our time together we will further analyze Munch’s most important series of works such as “The Frieze of Life”, evaluating their importance and influence in art history. By proposing new interpretations of these works, we will open up a space to consider why these compositions have made such a lasting impression on pop culture.
Led by an expert on modern and contemporary art and published Munch author, Dr. Timea Andrea Lelik, this interactive seminar will explore the contribution of this great artist to the history of art. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased appreciation and novel interpretations of the most iconic works by Edvard Munch and how these have forever changed the course of art.

Outstanding seminar. Timea's use of the art to get to the heart of the artist is simply incredible. As we begin to get into artists about whom I know very little, I am constantly amazed at the amount of information conveyed in each seminar and how memorable it is. Another highly recommended seminar.
