Very good ... I plan o visiting Paris next year and needed another overview of that museum
Cecelia took us through the various ages of Rome, the shaping events and forces, and how these impacted the people, city and art. She built a wonderfully rich tapestry of the city. I learned so much and began to appreciate Rome in a much more nuanced way. I can't wait to go back. Thank you Cecelia!
How wonderful to see Murano glass created through its history. Plus having images of Venice interspersed in the program was terrific. Won't ever forget that Venice is shaped like a fist.
Absolutely wonderful. She provided details I had never known about several art works. Her knowledge about the history of Paris, France etc is remarkable. Please have her give more lectures, she is one of the best I’ve ever had.
She is a wonderful presenter; very knowledgeable and clear. I learned so much and will be attending future presentations.
This is the third video presentation that I participated in with Marie as the presenter. Marie was also the tour guide at the Louvre for myself, my wife, our son and daughter-in-law, and their two daughters. Marie has amazing insights into how and why each piece of art was done, and about the history of the times when each piece was created. She offers something you could never get on your own, the benefit from her years of study and her love of art.
The lecture was excellent; it combined information on the Louvre palace itself, along with detail on specific works of art and historical context; enjoyed it very much even though I had been to the Louvre several times in my youth.
I enjoyed what Marie shared. However, I thought she was going to give us an overview of the Louvre, by area and pieces of art. Maybe that could be offered in the future.
I did not get a link from you, so was unable to attend!
I look forward to hearing and seeing the recording when it's available. It was such a great course, I really look forward to Livia's next lectures series.
This was my first experience with Context Conversations and I couldn't have picked a better one than the presentation on the Treasures of the Louvre. The historical and artistic details were fascinating and it was quite obvious that the guide was in her element.
Vadim is brimming with info as usual, all the way down to movie recommendations and excerpts from the Soviet rock music of the time. I remember most of these events, but they had become foggy over time in their relationship to one another, so it was good to have things all put together.
A wonderful lesson by a knowledgable, delightful teacher! Loved every minute
A comprehensive look at the events and leaders that led to the fall of the USSR. Troubling and sobering, in view of current events. Vadim always does a wonderful job of presenting not only facts, but art and music that give us a sense of how people in Russia felt about what was happening.
This was a most difficult talk as I felt the trajedy of the russians not being able to move from having free housing, education, medical - and yet shortages of the goods to make a good life - It was a lesson that no matter what ,humans are never satisfied - too many faults with governments!
