Think of a road that encompasses perfectly preserved medieval villages, rolling vineyards turning into unspoiled mountain countryside, huge baroque palaces, towns dating back to the Roman world, some of the most beautiful churches in the world plus the most famous castle in the world, and you have the Romantic Road. Cutting through Bavaria, the world-famous touring route is 240 miles long, with an array of wonderful UNESCO world heritage sites to visit. In this conversation, participants will be taken along many of its highlights, plus hidden gems and the history and culture of the region.

Starting in Würzburg, we can begin by touring through the spectacular Residence of the Archbishops. We then travel south to see sights such as the castle of the once-mighty Teutonic Knights and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, arguably Germany’s most beautiful medieval town. Proceeding through picturesque towns and villages towards the old Roman city of Augsburg where Germany’s finest town hall stands the peaks of the Bavaria alps will slowly roll into view as the landscape becomes only more spectacular as we pass the Rocco masterpiece the Wieskirche before we end up Füssen, the gateway to the alps and then finally finish at the imposing fairy tale castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

Led by an expert on Bavarian history Tom Mills, this interactive seminar will take you along the most famous road in Europe. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased knowledge of the Romantic Roads main sights and Bavarian history culture and traditions.

Wonderful!

I knew nothing about the Romantic Road in Germany and now I know a lot! Tom was entertaining, engaging and fun to follow. He gave interesting history along with the photos and even a few tips for when we can actually book travel again. It was informative and inspiring.

Beautiful and a lot of fun!

This was a great presentation with good use of maps, photos and stories to tell us about this little known Romantic Road in Germany. I also loved his sense of humor and attempts to make us feel like we were there. Wonderful and totally enjoyable little getaway! I love the videos. Their quality is always a little wonky over zoom, but they add so much to a presentation.
