Join a local Peruvian expert, live from the ancient Inca capital of Cuco, nestled in the mountainous Andes range. As we explore this fascinating Peruvian center, we will do so not through slides but brought to you live, from an expert with a camera overlooking the cobbled streets, Spanish colonial architecture, and local Cuzco touches. The starting point will be the viewpoint of San Blas at 3,450m above sea level, then we will stop at the twelve-angled stone to delve deeper into the expert craftsmanship of the Incas, and we will end up in the vibrant and beautiful main square with pre-colonial and colonial buildings hosting modern facilities.

In the 1200’s Cuzco, Peru was the pinnacle of the Inca culture, at the center of the Inca cosmovision, and the starting point for all the Inca trails across South America. As the Spanish arrived in the city in 1532, this Conquest was one of the most important campaigns in their colonization of the Americas. Nowadays, Cuzco has a population of half a million, of which 85% is Catholic. What participants will be able to witness all over the city is a lot of syncretisms: the amalgamation of two different religions and cultures. As we will see, Cuzco has much to offer and much to discuss.

Led by a professional guide with over 20 years of experience and a degree in both tourism and archaeology, Michael Lazo Gamarra, this Conversation will be a live virtual tour of the city. Participants will see interactively the connection between Cuzco’s rich history, culture, architecture, and more. Designed to inform curiosity and future travels, participants will emerge with a better understanding of this modern Andean city.

This virtual tour is part of a Peru series by Michael Lazo Gamarra. Each virtual tour can be joined independently and in any order.

Born and raised in Cuzco, Peru, Michael Lazo Gamarra has been working in tourism since 2003 and has been a professional hiker since 2007. Virtual Tour Cusco

Michael gave an excellent talk about the Inca construction in Cusco and about the sights in the main square. Unfortunately because of COVID, all businesses and sights in the square were closed so it was not as picturesque as it could have been. Michael was able to thoroughly answer everyone's questions.

Cusco

I was in Cusco and Machu Pichu in July of 1951! I wanted to see and hear again the history. I enjoyed Michaels "conversation. with the covid lock down it did look much the same except in 1951 the people were dressed in their native dress . I wished we had gone into - or seen pictures of the main cathedral interior as I remember it was quite ornate. . there was a large inca fort at the edge of the city I remember and I wish that michael had taken us there.i am signed up for the inca trail and will sign up for Machu Pichu.

Great event

Very good experience. We’ve been to Cuzco so we could relate to all that was said. Even better than the knowledge
and expertise shown was the happy accident of walking past a spot where we had a great dinner.
