A video recording will be sent to all participants after the seminar.
Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in Europe and a place where countless diverse civilizations and cultures left their mark and identity. Designed as a follow-up to Introduction to Lisbon: The City of Seven Hills - which explored the city's historical, social, and artistic evolution through the late 19th Century - this new conversation will trace the Contemporary Lisbon of 20th and 21st centuries, presenting the urban evolution, ambiance and new dynamics that define its current spirit. This is the perfect opportunity for those looking to learn about the many different facets of this wonderful Portuguese city and prepare for future travels.
After a brief prologue summarizing The City of Seven Hills, we will begin by exploring the spatial and historical organization of the city through its most recent neighborhoods, including the most famous places, monuments and contemporary architecture buildings. Moving onto the latter portion of thisConversation, your expert will introduce you to some of the lesser known hidden gems, secret spots or alternative ideas, outside of the famous (and crowded) tourist and historical districts, including colorful gardens, vibrant marketplaces, in-depth museums, boutique shops, highly-rated restaurants and lively nightlife hotspots.
Led by an expert on Architecture and Art History, Tiago Miranda Neiva, this interactive seminar will present the historical, social and architectural Lisbon background of current days. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with a better knowledge of the Contemporary Lisbon, its historical evolution in 20th and 21st centuries, and the most relevant recent hiddem gems . After the seminar, it will be easy to see why Lisbon has become one of the most awarded tourist destinations in recent years.
