from 19294 reviewsThis was a relaxing and creative presentation which shared key highlights of Scotland's treasures. I loved this geographical and historical overview with the presenter, Dr Mariani, sharing her favorite examples and those so important from all over Scotland. Castles, standing stones, abbey ruins, caves, islands, overviews, battlegrounds, a city or two, and a flavor of whisky were included!! The seminar shows much research and personal endeavor to capture the highlights -- especially her own photographs. Just beautiful. Having experiences a few of those areas emphasized, this brought back lovely memories. Nicely done.
I thoroughly enjoyed this talk by Sue King, and really felt that I was walking in Jane Austen’s footsteps! The talk was fascinating and I appreciated the handout which was emailed afterwards, on all the places mentioned in Sue’s talk. Sue was happy to answer questions at the end, and generally made the talk informative but fun.
Once again Mme Dessaillens s insight into the technique of the artists and the historical background is superb .Her explanations of the details of the art work and the historical significance helps the viewer to understand the art work as a single entity as well as its significance in the context of the period in which it was painted .I am so appreciative of being exposed to these lectures .When I walk through these galleries alone and with others I feel as if I am part of the time period and not just a viewer but a participant .
Mr Hoskins gave a well planned and concise presentation.
Interesting blend of historical facts re artists, authors and architecture in the beautiful Montparnasse.Gil was amazing
Loved this!! Alexander Wilson is 1) funny; 2) engaging; 3) extraordinarily knowledgeable. He covers a wealth of material in minutes and keeps it moving, but is wise enough to keep slides on the screen for a few minutes, so we can visually study them while listening to him explain the map or portrait, etc. This is a huge change from so many tedious seminars I attend professionally, in which the speaker reads the slides to us....ZZZ. Prof. Wilson used a variety of graphics, from a map of DDay to the Bayeaux Tapestry that absolutely illuminated his points. I learned a huge amount in a very short amount of time.
Virtual tours bring such immediacy. Combined with Gil's commentary, this one shone. Loved returning here vicariously, and learning many new things. Architecture info was a bonus

Great walking tour of "out of the mainstream" areas of Montparnasse....Gil is a fantastic guide...knowledgeable & entertaining
This was wonderful. It is really great to learn about wonderful art collections currently considered off the beaten (tourist) track. Sabry, as always, brings it to life.
This was a wonderful first part of this series, and the focus was on American sculptors and the influence that Florence and it’s artists had on their work. So little is heard about American sculptors in the 19th century, and this was a wonderfully presented and researched history of them. I cannot wait until we get to the other art forms that were equally influenced by the renaissance period.
My husband and I have really enjoyed the series of seminars that Ms. Bolton-Porciatti has presented. She has helped us understand the significance of some of the important things we have just strolled by as tourists in Florence. She has pointed out things that we have now added to our must see list. Kate has helped us understand why so many other people through the centuries have enjoyed and appreciated Florence and surrounding area.
This was very informative and entertaining as well as inspiring for future reading and places to visit in Florence.
Cecilia shared historical context prior to sharing information about best bacari and cicchetti in Venice. I learned so much from this live context webinar.
Kate is an excellent lecturer. I have learned so much from this well-researched and documented program. Highly recommend.
