from 20630 reviewsWell organized lecture that traces the styles and uses of the unique uses of Portuguese tile from medieval to present day Portugal.
Enjoyed the presentation having visited Lisbon several times. I also love the Iznik tiles in ggr wast
This 90 minute talk flew by. Shawnee is an architectural historian by training and combined her talk with many practical tips for visitors. The pictures were delightful and the presentation well organized.
Shawnee Kelly is well-versed on all things Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard—history (pirates!), nature’s beauty, food and beaches and all other waterways. I’m vacationing there in early fall, and I now have items on my must see/do list.
Part 4 was especially interesting to study how we changed from Hunter/gatherers to peopl who finally settled in one place and learned to grow crops - and how corn was grown and grains!
Any lecture that Lauren Mackay delivers is a must-see for those interested in the Tudor era. The author of several fascinating books on key Tudor era figures, Dr Mackay is deeply knowledgeable. Moreover, unlike some experts, her delivery is always sharp and well organized. Any talk she give will be fabulous!
This is the second lecture I attended on the Gobekli Tepe site. Dr. Durand's lecture is by far the most comprehensive and enjoyable. It is well researched and gives expanded information pertinent to what the site may have meant to the surrounding settlements. Certainly there are still mysteries to be unraveled, but this lecture seemed up-to-date with recent discoveries. I also enjoy Dr Durand's enthusiasm. It is infectious. I really want to visit this site some day.
Once again another fantastic talk from Sabry. He is without a doubt one of the most knowledgeable and passionate art experts around. I always learn something from his talks.
Wow! I never knew! Great presentation of what happened in Germany after the Wall fell, especially from the perspective of East Germans. Hit all the major points--highly recommend.
The discovery of Gobelki Tepe is relatively recent and the talk was very informative. Dr. Durand's enthusiasm is inspiring.
Guillaume did a jam packed seminar with lots of information. Made better by the fact he has been there and is an archaeologist.

I have been interested in this site since I became aware of it's existence several years ago. The presence of a culture able to produce ,and invested in, huge congregational centers at a time which is still mostly considered to be pre-city or stable inhabitation blows my mind.

This is like taking a great college course without any grading! It's fascinating, with smart and useful explanations.
