Architect, artist, and designer, Zaha Hadid (1950-2016) was recognized as a major figure in architecture of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Five years after her untimely death in Miami on March 31, 2016, the British Iraqi architects' radical design projects (built or not) still speak to our imagination. This conversation will explore her life, her career, and the legacy of her works.

Zaha Hadid's groundbreaking fluid architecture, characterized by sensuous curves, radical composition, and constructive complexity, is still emblematic of the way she re-shaped architecture for the modern age. Reflecting upon her career and projects as the ""world's top female architect"", as she was described during her lifetime, this lecture provides an insight into her career and the diversity of her architectural design amongst other the National Museum of Arts (Rome), Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati), the London Olympics Aquatics Centre (London) or the Port Authority (Antwerp).

Led by an expert on architecture and urbanism, Bert de Muynck, this interactive seminar will delve into the ideas, concept,s and projects built by British Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased understanding of the design principles and spatial qualities of her unique works in Cincinnati, Seoul, Rome, London, Beijing, Antwerp, or Miami.

Nice Tribute to Zaha Habib

I have always like Zaha Hadid's work but knew little about her background. Bert de Muynck's talk filled in many gaps. Her use of concept paintings was of interest. I did wonder how easily such deconstructed views could be translated into actual buildings, but having seen one of Frank Gehry's "drawings" for a museum, Hadid's paintings were not so abstract in comparison.
