London is full of famous sights, from the Tower to the Shard, and Greenwich to Kew, with countless world-class museums and galleries. During this lecture, our local expert will introduce some of their favorite"must-see" landmarks, and provide handy tips for when to visit and faux-pas to look out for.

Together we will venture into overlooked corners of more famous historic buildings such as Westminster Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral, before adding a few London suburbs to the itinerary. We will move off the beaten path to enjoy the charms of Twickenham, Richmond, and Kew with their 17th and 18th-century buildings and glorious views of the Thames. This lecture also highlights two of the city's best markets, Portobello for antiques and Columbia Road for its dazzling display of flowers and artisan shops, with tips provided for our next in-person visit. Hattie will provide several ideas for fabulous lunches catering to all budgets, as well as her favorite theaters and smaller museums – that are often less crowded than The British Museum but host remarkable collections.

Led by London resident, Hattie Bennett, this lecture will outline Hattie's top ten must-sees for travelers stopping over in London. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased knowledge of navigating London, sightseeing, shopping, and eating away from the crowds.

Hattie has a degree in History of Art and an MA in Historic Interiors, she has a life-long passion and fascination in Fine and Decorative Arts, particularly works produced in Europe from the 16th to 18th century. After working for the Royal Collection in the Print Room at Windsor Castle, she was a curator for a private collector of 17th and 18th century prints and drawings. Hattie has worked for London's foremost framer of important old master paintings during which time she sharpened her appreciation and understanding of the decorative arts and the changing tastes of collecting. Recently she has been dealing in prints and works of art as well as taking groups of all ages to museums and galleries.

Great Look at London with Hattie Bennett

My wife and I have been to London many times. Yet, this Conversation done by Hattie Bennett was informative and interesting. I got several ideas about things that I will do on my next trip.

Hattie's talking mannerisms are slightly distracting, but manageable for me as listener, and her content is absolutely outstanding.

I didn’t get a chance to watch the virtual, is there any way I can get it put back on my phone or get refunded, I was really busy and didn’t get to view it until today.

Poor presentation

We have viewed several Context presentations and this is the first one that has been difficult to watch. Lip smacking, stammering, and fast talking throughout. Made for difficult listening. Almost unbearable. Also, she mentioned that the pandemic is now over. No, it’s not.
