Belgium is a small but mighty nation tucked between France and Germany. Travelers could easily spend a lifetime exploring its great variety of sights and activities – from romantic castles, World War I trenches, medieval cities, and picturesque villages to world-renowned art, music festivals (not to mention the best beer, chocolate, and fries in the world.) This seminar explores the Top-10 sights and activities we mustn't miss during our next visit to Belgium, including both highlights and hidden gems, to help you make the most of your future stay or to just let you dream and learn more about Belgium.

We will also cover some practical information such as the best time to visit, how to move around when in Belgium, and how to avoid the crowds. There will of course also be time for questions at the end, and if not all your questions can be covered, participants will get the chance to send them afterward by email.

Led by an expert on local culture, heritage, and history of Belgium, Natalie Lefevre, this Conversation will explore the country's can't-miss landmarks and hidden gems you travelers can only discover with the help of a local. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased knowledge on what Belgium has to offer and on how to prepare for a future trip.

Belgian native Natalie Lefebre has a PhD in International Studies with a focus on social-political and conflict studies (UK) but her first university degree was a Master in Cultural Studies from Ghent University. Natalie decided to combine her educational background with her interest and passion for sustainable and educational tourism and founded a small-scale tour operator in Peru while she was living there. After returning to Belgium, she started guiding visitors in Bruges, Ghent, and other Belgian cities.

This conversation is suitable for all ages.

90 minutes, including a 30 minute Q&A.

Wonderful Presentation!

We absolutely loved Dr Lefevre’s presentation. Starting with a map, she gave a brief breakdown of this small country and what the people are like. We’re hoping to re-visit England, Scotland, and Ireland. Since we’ve been enjoying Context’s “Top 10 places to visit when you’re in ____” we thought we’d add Belgium to our list. After this presentation, we wouldn’t miss it! We can’t wait to visit!

Loved it.

I enjoyed it! I had no prior knowledge of Belgium, and it seems like a fascinating country. My dad was in the Battle of the Bulge, and I didn’t know it was in Belgium. This was an excellent program.
