Since then, it has become an international smash hit, telling the story of the six wives of Henry VIII through the medium of a twenty-first century talent competition. While the songs are catchy and the costumes fabulous, is there any truth behind the stories that the six queens present? This lecture will separate the myths from the facts behind the musical, and set the portrayal in the context of changing perceptions and interpretations of the queens on stage and screen over the years.
This seminar will look in detail at the portrayals of Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn and Jane Seymour in Six. It will discuss the fact behind the hit songs.
Led by an expert on the six wives of Henry VIII and the Tudor period, Dr. Elizabeth Norton, this lecture will examine the truth behind the smash hit musical, "Six." Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased understanding of the lives and afterlives of the six wives of Henry VIII, as well as the way in which their stories have been brought into the twenty-first century.
Dr Elizabeth Norton is a British historian, specialising in the Tudor period. She has degrees from both Oxford and Cambridge universities and King's College London. She is the author of twelve books, including 'The Hidden Lives of Tudor Women', 'The Temptation of Elizabeth Tudor' and biographies of four of Henry VIII's wives. She regularly appears as an expert on television.

Part two, Don't Lose Your Head" was wonderful. Dr. Norton does her research. She adds another layer to this complex women and meaning behind the lyrics of the songs in Six. I did see the play a while ago and this gives it another layer. Great insights!
