In this conversation, we will focus on the lives and histories of the Medici family through their grandeur homes and villas. Over a period of about three centuries, while settling their fortunes in Florence, the Medici continued maintaining strong connections north of Florence, where they originated from, and built out and restructured rural residences and villas all over Tuscany.

Set in the magnificent Tuscan countryside, the Medici Villas and Garden are expressions of their mastery of the territory and fine examples of how they shaped architecturally their rise to power. Together, we'll discuss these villas which were recognized as Unesco World Heritage sites in 2013. We'll learn about how the villas testify to the family's political and economic ambitions, represented in the new aesthetic relation with the landscape as in the innovative decorative solutions, carried out by illustrious Renaissance artists and engineers.

Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, this interactive seminar will explore a collection of Medici villas. Led by art historian and native Florentine, Alessandra Becucci.

This conversation is suitable for all ages.

90 minutes, including a 30 minute Q&A.

It doesn't get any better than this.

There are two things about this seminar; First Alessandra is a wonderful speaker. She has such an immense knowledge about Florence, art history, Italy and the Medici that I am envious every time I hear her speak. I believe she was born and grew up in Florence - so you can imagine. She is passionate about these subjects and it shows in the enthusiasm she packs in to her seminars. Secondly, I am fascinated by the Medici family. They were of course, such a foundational part of what made the Renaissance, the Renaissance. So for me, this lecture was heaven.
