Learn about the life of Leonardo da Vinci, his connection with beloved Milan, and purchase your virtual ticket to visit his celebrated work: the Last Supper. This is a fitting conversation for anyone with a keen interest in this talented Italian figure who would like to delve deeper into the masterpieces that we are able to see together in this short space of time.
We'll begin by setting the scene of Leonardo in Milan: we'll discuss his connection with the city more broadly and the influence he had on the scope and construction of anything from the Duomo to the Navigli canals. While some canals existed prior to da Vinci's arrival, he greatly expanded their reach thanks to his innovative use of dams, all the while creating legendary works like Virgin on the Rocks and The Last Supper.
Of course, much of our conversation will focus on the Last Supper painting itself. The painting was created to ornate the Refectory of the Santa Maria Delle Grazie convent and Laura will detail the background of the artwork and the story behind Leonardo's work. We'll be able to really allow ourselves to zoom into the faces and details in this artwork, with a discussion on the context behind this. Other works of Leonardo will be discussed in this conversation and we may virtually visit some of his pieces in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana Museum together too.
Led by art historian and consultant Laura Benitti, this interactive discussion will unpick a curated selection of Leonardo's works with a focus on Milan and the Last Supper. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with a better understanding of this talented artist and the impact that he has had both in Milan, Italy, and globally.

Laura was born in Turin, where she studied history of art, but moved to Milan in 2002. Since her graduation, she has accumulated a long experience as an art consultant and registrar in a few museums in Turin, as well as expertise as a local Milan guide. She loves to be both an experienced and friendly local ambassador of Milan and Como area for her travelers.

This conversation is suitable for all ages.
