Informative and Informative. I will look at landscape paintings very differently after taking this seminar.
This seminar revealed aspects of the landscape genre I'd never known about, such as the political dimension. All expounded by an expert who shared her knowledge with clarity, enthusiasm, and generosity. Highly recommended - and I hope she brings out more seminars on the topic.
I found the talk to be quite interesting and fit well with some previous talks
An enjoyable review of landscape painting from the 15th century onwards. Alette confesses she had to be very selective, but the gaps which must have been there, were bridged by a clear and enthusiastic presentation. I liked particularly the way she picked out small elements of the pictures that allowed the artist to claim as a history painting, worth more money, what was actually a landscape. She also identified the different ways trees had been used to frame or feature in a work. She had much more she could have shown and I will look out for any future talks Alette gives.
A delightful stroll among some gorgeous European landscape paintings, some history on the genre and the evolution of its popularity. I think our group could have continued to fire questions away at Ms Fleischer for several more hours.
