Described as the ‘Switzerland of Central America’, Costa Rica is recognized worldwide for its lush rainforests, impressive volcanoes, intriguing pre-Columbian treasures, and incredible wildlife. Join a local expert in this introductory seminar to discover more about this fascinating part of the world as we discuss history, geography, biodiversity, and take in some of its natural wonders.

Costa Rica’s reputation is quite rightly fixed to its natural and cultural wonders and is something we will discuss in detail. Moreover, since the abolishment of the army in 1948, this small titan has developed into one of the strongest and more stable democracies in the Americas. We’ll learn about these remarkable advancements in clean energy, technology, public health, and life quality, as well as sustainable tourism.

Join a native Costa Rican and archaeologist on a journey through the country’s most fascinating destinations, in which participants will be able to explore firsthand its history, biodiversity, and incredible geology, as well as its modern accomplishments and challenges ahead. Led by Dr. Daniela Arroyo, this interactive seminar will transport participants to mysterious ancient sites, breathtaking volcanoes, and some of the dozens of ecosystems that form the green jewel of the Central American Isthmus.

Great Introduction to charms of Costa rica

Dr. Arroyo Barrantes provided the perfect balance of history, archeological and social development, and modern charms and options for accessing and enjoying them. I lived in Costa Rica for three years and learned so much from this talk. I was really surprised at how understandable the information was even to someone who already knows a lot about the country.
