Join Guille Genestar live from Barcelona for a virtual tour from the alleys and plazas of the Gothic quarter, in the heart of Barcelona’s Old City. Enjoy a real-time look at the charm and history of Barcelona with a local expert.
Barcelona is the second-largest city in Spain and the capital of the state of Catalonia. It's located west of the Mediterranean Sea, where, along with history, diverse civilizations have left their imprint and contributed to the formation of the Catalan identity. As a former nation of traders, Barcelona has been one of the main ports in the Mediterranean Sea and it has always been open to the world with constant exchanges of products and ideas. That's why, still today, Barcelona keeps its open-minded personality and cosmopolitan atmosphere.
This virtual tour will include images and maps to better frame what we explore. Our local expert invites you to dive into the historical roots of the Catalan capital, where layers of civilizations (Romans, Visigoths, Arabs, and more) can still be traced. We’ll walk around the old Roman colony, the medieval city and the old Jewish quarter, Sant Jaume square, and peaceful places like the charming Sant Felip Neri square.
On this virtual tour, you will also hear tips and recommendations for your future in-person Barcelona Old city visit: things to do, pastries with “sweet” souvenirs, local handicrafts, tapas bars, and cafés.
Led by the expert local guide and cultural communicator, Guille Genestar, this interactive virtual tour will fill the participants with the atmosphere of the city's history following a suggestive itinerary that covers the highlights but also local tips. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased interest in visiting (or revisiting) Barcelona and its splendorous heritage.

Wonderful experience and illuminating

As of now, I have not ever been to Barcelona, so this gave me a glimpse at one area of the city. Hopefully, I will visit at some time in-person to see the city, but this was a good substitute.

A Unique Tour

Guille has devised a wonderful way to see and learn about the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona - follow him around with his video camera while he describes what you are seeing. You can visualize everything in the neighborhood from the size and scale of the buildings, see the elegant shops and markets and learn about the history of this important neighborhood from the Roman Empire through the Catholic monarchs. And some street art. Guille is an engaging speaker and very knowledgable. It was one of the best seminars I have taken with Context.
