This seminar rings in summer with lots of happy, fun-filled, and sunny days depicted in great paintings. Now is the time to move forward full of hope and happiness!

In this series, we will be looking at how artists depicted the different seasons throughout the ages. How is springtime celebrated over the ages? The heat and sweat from the hot summer months? The autumnal festivities of bringing in the harvest, the making of wine, hunting for game, with the last of the summer glow. The hardships of winter, storms, and snow, icy weather, and the comfort of a fireplace.

This seminar is a celebration of Summer: the time of warmth, laziness, and outdoor enjoyment. After the busy revival of Spring, we can relax in the sunshine, pick-nicking with friends on the lawn, go boating, taking walks along the seashore, picking strawberries, and enjoy the long days. How did artists capture the warm glow of Summer over the centuries?

Led by an expert on the history of gardens and landscapes, Dr. Alette Fleischer, this interactive seminar will reflect on how humans experience the changing of the seasons. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased awareness that looking forward to a new season is key to our wellbeing.

This conversation is part of a four-part series with Alette Fleischer. Each session is designed as a stand-alone seminar as well as part of a four-week series.
