Learn secrets and tricks to prepare the perfect Tiramisù in few simple steps in this hands-on cooking class!

Tiramisù is a classic Italian dessert, well known and much loved around the world. Join Silvia Giogoli to learn how to make this creamy and delicious dish at home. We’ll also learn the origin of this dish and the legends that surround it. We will then get to the bottom of which Italian region can truly claim bragging rights to this much-loved dolce. Variations of this dessert abound, and we’ll discuss how the creamy concoction has evolved and been adapted around the world. Tiramisù means “pick me up,” and once we make this sweet, creamy, coffee-filled delicacy, we will understand why!

Led by a local expert, Silvia Giogoli, this interactive cooking class will explore the history and orgins of Tiramisù. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with the skills necessary to recreate this dessert at home.

 

Below are the items you’ll want to participate in this class. We will email attendees the full recipe with measurements and instructions prior to the class, so that you can pre-measure ingredients before joining.

Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks room temperature
  • 2 ½ cups (500g) mascarpone cheese
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp (125g) white granulated sugar
  • water
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder (30g)
  • Ladyfinger cookies, about 2 packages (150g)
  • 1 cup brewed espresso, chilled (200g)

Special equipment

We don’t list every item you’ll need here (e.g., standard items like knives, bowls, cutting boards). But we do our best to identify items that may not be in every kitchen, and alternatives where possible.

  • 2 big bowls for preparation
  • electric mixer (essential)
  • small saucepan
  • strainer
  • spatula
  • square or rectangular serving dish (approximately H 3,5/4 inch, W 7,5 inch, L 9 inch) or 5 standard transparent glasses

Silvia Giogoli was born and raise in Ravenna, where she has been working as licensed tour guide since 2000. In 2001 she obtained the license as Tour Leader and Environmental and Hiking Guide. She attended the Academy of Fine Arts where she obtained a specialization in the art of mosaic. Since she started work as tour guide she always tried to create special itineraries to combine art and food to experience the deep the culture of her region. She started cooking in her grandmother's kitchen when she was a child and her passion for food has always accompanied her though life. Over time she has refined her techniques in the creation of traditional dishes often combined with gourmet seasonings. Her specialties are mainly handmade pasta and desserts.
