Led by culinary journalist Tessy Carrada, this conversation will introduce you to both the writing of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and his connection with diet, food, and culinary history. Widely regarded as the greatest writer in the Spanish language for "Don Quixote" and his other works, Cervantes was also connoisseur of Spanish Golden Age gastronomy - a foodie of his time.

It is no coincidence that we find nearly 200 culinary references in "Don Quixote" and many also in Cervantes' work. We will learn about his cultural context and lively personality, discovering how he became a key source for understanding the diet, habits, and culinary traditions of 16th and 17th century Spain. We will note how some of these habits have evolved and remain part of the way the Spanish eat today.

So, be prepared to travel with Cervantes and discover the flavors, drinks, and dishes he shares with his readers. Tessy suggests participating with a nice glass of wine and maybe some cheese or olives to enjoy this "webinar tapa" to the fullest. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with better knowledge about Spanish cuisine and, potentially, a rumbling stomach.

This conversation is suitable for all ages.

90 minutes, including a 30 minute Q&A.

Usually I rate 10 but his presentation was almost impossible to follow due to poor audio and not so great visuals
