There is much more to Morocco than its dynamic cities. Beyond these eclectic mazes lie the stunning Atlas mountains and swathes of Saharan sand stretching for miles. Join an expert on Morocco as we scale the heights of the Atlas mountains and trek on a virtual camel through the desert.

In this conversation, we will escape the cities of Morocco for the grandest horizons that North Africa country can offer. We will take a tour through the many ranges of the Atlas Mountains that ripple across the country, including a virtual climb of North Africa's highest peak, Mount Toubkal. Then, we will saddle up our camels to ride into the country's deep south, where the endless dune seas of the Sahara carry echoes of the ancient trade caravans that once brought salt and gold from Timbuctou to Marrakesh.

Led by an expert on Morocco, travel writer and guidebook author Paul Clammer, this interactive seminar will transport participants to the deserts, dunes, and mountains that bless Morocco. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased understanding of what lies beyond Morocco’s beguiling cities.

Paul Clammer is a travel writer and the author of more than 40 guidebooks for Lonely Planet. He first visited Morocco in 1994, and has been a regular visitor every since, working there as a tour guide and as co-writer on five editions of LP's guidebook to the country. More recently, he has lived in the medina in Fez, where his partner is` restoring a centuries-old traditional Moroccan townhouse.

A wonderful introduction to a region I have not yet visited.

This was a wonderful introduction to the Sahara desert and the mountains of Morocco. I have not yet visited either one of those areas, and I found this tour and conversation to be very informative, engaging and enjoyable. Dr. Clammer’s enthusiasm for the region and the people and the culture is quite apparent and made this that much more fun.
