Led by a Russian historian who has evacuated to safer territory, this 60-minute conversation will provide vital historical context to the origin of the tragic military invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces.
This webinar, led by a Russian historian, will provide critical analysis of the current conflict that began on February 24th, 2022, with Vladimir Putin’s attack on the nation of Ukraine—an event that changed the face of the world overnight. Our conversation will be organized into three parts: history, ongoing diplomatic efforts, and ways in which international civilians can lend support.
We’ll begin by asking how we ended up here, diving deep into complex historical origins, which date back to the early twentieth century. This will set the groundwork to discuss the current efforts underway to neutralize the conflict, including ongoing negotiations, sanctions, and emergency responses.
We’ll end our conversation with a discussion of available options for international civilians wishing to lend their support to the ongoing humanitarian efforts being made to evacuate citizens of Ukraine and Russia.

As you watch the presentation, we encourage you to think about these questions:
  • Do you think that Putin’s power will weaken as the Russian economy weakens?
  • What if Russians had access to western media sources? Would they be less likely to support the war?
