For the curious traveller, long-term Milan resident Laura Benitti shares her Top 10 must-see sights and cultural experiences in the Fashion Capital of the world. Our picture-perfect itinerary includes experiences of art in context – along with monumental churches, shops, palazzi, and gardens. During this conversation, we will venture beyond iconic highlights such as Milan's Duomo, La Scala Theatre, or DaVinci's Last Supper to experience the local cuisine and must-see landmarks from an insider perspective.

Laura shares suggestions for concerts and operas where you can mingle with the locals in the city where opera was born; visits to artisan workshops where Florence’s ancient crafts are still practised; food shopping and culinary tips; the best roof terraces and panoramic hilltop gardens where you can enjoy an 'aperitivo overlooking the towers and spires of the city.

Our time together will include some beautiful locations off the beaten track and suggestions of how to avoid the heaviest crowds at the most famous sights. Finally, we’ll propose day trips from Milan where you can enjoy some of the Lake District's most awe-inspiring scenery. Participants will have the chance to take part in a Q&A session afterwards.

Led by an expert on Italian culture, Laura Benitti, this Conversation will look beyond Milan's most touted sights to propose other truly memorable experiences for the sophisticated traveller. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with a portfolio of suggestions for their ideal holiday in Milan.

To discover the charms of Milan in person, we invite you to explore our scholar-led private walking tours.

Our additional upcoming seminars about Italian culture, history, and cuisine are available here.

Terrific overview and recommendations from an interesting and engaging Speaker!

Excellent. Deep appreciation of historical context, includes gems that may be less familiar. Fantastic!

Look at Milan, Italy with Laura Benitti

It was difficult to understand what Laura Benitti was saying. Her accent was just too heavy for me. I missed too many details.

Otherwise, this Milan overview was good, but not great.

I have enjoyed other "top ten" Conversations. Those included guidance for getting around, spotlighted places to eat and stay, and offered tips for travelers. Had those elements been included, this presentation would have been much more valuable to me as potential visitor.

There was some good information but I think you can learn as much or more by watching a few YouTube videos, and youtube videos are free.
