Mark Planellas Witzsch is active in several areas in the cultural field and taught philosophy of art and avant-gardes of the twentieth century at university, focusing on universally well-known Catalan artists such as Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró. Catalonia being a part of Spain that has historically defended democracy and the ideals of the republic, the vast majority of its artists were committed to those Civil values and reflected it in their art. This led Mark Planellas to dive into some related topics, such as propaganda in the twentieth century, thus publishing books on the subject, such as “Jaume Miravitlles. El somriure de Catalunya”, which explains the history of the first modern propaganda ministry ever created, in the context of the Spanish Civil War.

Excellent talk. Mr Planellas gave a wonderful talk making the Spanish coast come alive.
We zip along, from Cadaques on the "Costa Brava" to Gibraltar, with Mark Plenellas Witzsch. He points out the diverse geological, geographcal, historical, cultural, culenary, and art and architecture aspects of towns and cities that are worth a visit if one gets a chance to travel this coastline of Spain - from the 'heavy hitters' like Barcelona, Sevilla and Cordoba to the coves of the Balaeric Islands, the deserts and 'cortijos" of Almeria and the Nerja caves. Lots of good graphics and highlights. He makes you want to take a trip to see as many of the places he covers as possible.
This was a presentation chock full of great information and suggestions on what sounds like an amazing area. Pictures were great and I hope to plan to visit soon.
Mark has the amazing ability to cram an enormous amount of information into his talks and make it all seem like you have to visit every place he mentions. He is well organized and well spoken. The Mediterranean coastline is extremely interesting and we hope to visit much of it next year.
Great look at a lovely country. It was very interesting to see all the different types of climate that are in one country , along the coast. Very well done lecture.
