The Great Pompeii Project: Solving Archaeological Mysteries with Danielle Oteri
This project yielded incredible finds including a stable with horses, a fast-food restaurant, an enormous mural of the African plains, and a chariot that was almost stolen by art thieves tunneling into the ruins from the adjacent town.
Our conversation will examine the 18th-century discovery of Pompeii by Naples’ Bourbon Kings, the sale of its archaeological treasures which have spread around the world, and then review the newest discoveries which have been unearthed by the Great Pompeii Project – which has funded excavations between 2017 and 2019.

Once again, Danielle offered us a very insightful, delightful tour of Pompeii through the ages and in real time today. So enjoyed this, and the images were special since some parts of the site are not yet open to visitors like me.
Danielle reminded me of history I was already familiar with, but then added facts that I hadn't researched, and perspectives that are so important to the understanding of Pompeii. Loved her interest and insights into the recent and future happenings. Very informative lecture.
Dr. Oteri was a wonderful presenter! She is knowledgeable and fun to listen to! Great information!
