Our spotlight on Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) examines the work and legacy of one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century. Through a comprehensive but accessible introduction to the oeuvre of the artist, we will explore Picasso’s role and contribution to art history. While analyzing autobiographical information to better grasp the inspiration sources of this complex artist, we will proceed to an in-depth analysis of his most iconic works from all his phases of creation.
During our time together we will analyze Picasso’s Blue Period (1901-1904), Rose Period (1904-1906), the African art and primitivism influenced period (1907-1909), Analytic cubism period (1909-1912), Synthetic cubism period (1912-1919), as well as his later works and his personal and synthetic style, evaluating their importance and influence in art history. We will analyze in-depth compositions such as “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon”, as well his dual role as revolutionary and traditionalist artist at the same time. His capacity to innovate, to get ahead of his contemporaries while dialoguing with the painting of the old masters, made Picasso constantly renew the relationship of art to reality.
Led by an expert on modern and contemporary art and published author, Dr. Timea Andrea Lelik, this interactive seminar will explore the contribution of this great artist to the history of art. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an increased appreciation of the most iconic works by Pablo Picasso and how these have changed the course of art.

Outstanding overview of one of the world's most prolific artists

Picasso did so much art in his lifetime that it is near impossible to present a survey of his life and work. But Dr. Lelik did this in a fast-moving but not superficial overview of his development and the life events that influenced him. It was the best of multiple Picasso events I have seen this year celebrating 50 years since his death. Dr Lelik is a great presenter, interesting and keeps up the pace.

A fantastic survey of Picasso's work. Timea packed so much into this seminar ... we so are fortunate to have such an outstanding expert present the works of such an important artist in an organized and informative way. Don't miss this seminar if it is repeated!

Dr. Timea began on time and packed much useful information about Picasso into her lecture. She presented a full selection of his most important works, which enhanced her narrative. She is a serious professional who conveyed a deep understanding of his art, in a way that was interesting to the participants. I look forward to more sessions with her on other artists. Wow! I have never been a huge fan of Picasso's, but listening to Timea, I have a whole new appreciation for the man. He will never be my favorite, but I have found myself looking at his art with fresh eyes. What a treat. I can't recommend this seminar highly enough.
