A very scholarly seminar with Dr. Dalla Costa. I learned so much!
The third lecture provides a novel interpretation of the three artists and their time persuasively challenging traditional interpretations. I have studied these artists extensively but learned a good deal from this course.
Far more interesting than the first lecture due t the depth of the presentation and the compelling point of view. far more than just a survey, this was an exploration of the effect of markets and patronage upon the three artists.
Learned a tremendous amount and deepened my appreciation of these 3 artists
The three part course had a very clear thesis and enough time for Dr. Dalla Costa to develop it. He explained how the theme of rivalry among Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese was misplaced. His course gave a good background for the painters, covered many of their works and discussed themes in art history that promoted the idea of rivalry among these painters as well as others. It was at a high level and very interesting.
