Very comprehensive presentation of the early days and rise of the Beatles, so much information, but it was well organized, good slides, and it was both factual and editorial, which I appreciated. So lots of data but also what people in and out of the recording business thought about them. Was light, moved along and informative.
Richard is clearly a talented social historian and his enthusiasm for the subject was very infectious. His knowledge is very extensive and he covered a huge amount of material in the time. The cost was that this was very much an overview, and I would have liked to hear him into more depth into each of the sections, which could clearly merit a 90 minute session of their own.
Bowen is extremely knowledgeable about his subject and shares extensive information with his viewers. HOWEVER, he manner of speaking is really challenging and detracts from his presentation. He speaks very rapidly and lowers his voice considerably and constantly when speaking parts of his sentences so that those phrases tend to get lost. He truly needs to be made aware of this. It made sticking with the program a real challenge.
