Join musician and scholar Peter Medhurst for a live performance of sixteenth and seventeenth-century organ music, played on a 1750 Snetzler chamber organ.

Peter Medhurst presents a live program of sixteenth and seventeenth-century organ music played on the 1750 John Snetzler organ (once owned by Captain Oates) that resides in his music room in London. Peter talks about the history of the instrument and introduces a range of pieces including La Bounette and La Doune Cella from The Mulliner Book, La Volta by William Byrd, Ballo del Granduca by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Marche en Rondeau from Te Deum by Marc-Antoine Charpentier, and Rondo from Abdelazar by Henry Purcell.

Led by a musician and scholar, Peter Medhurst, this interactive seminar will explore sixteenth and seventeenth-century organ music through discussion and live performance. Designed to inform curiosity as well as future travels, participants will come away with an understanding of what it is that gives organ music of this period its unique sound.
