This has been a superb series of fascinating lectures, well researched, produced and presented, as always, by Kate Bolton Porciatti. I have been introduced to many artists, collectors, and writers, some of whom were new to me, and whose work I will now seek out.
This series was outstanding in many ways: It was so interesting, particularly seeing how many Americans loved Florence and the Renaissance. Kate was the reason for this.
Another great talk with Dr Finn Ballard, who never disappoints. The Berlin Airlift was a remarkable success for the West and changed the political future of Europe after WW2. The details of this year-long extraordinary effort are worth examining and this talk does that and more.
As always, a very informative presentation by Finn.
Fascinating history of this beautiful town, which Dr. Steer told perfectly. Sorry I missed the earlier lectures.
Unfortunately, I missed the first half of the seminar, but look forward to the video. I am more science than literary, minded or experienced, so this was new material for me, and therefore a very enlightening. So much to learn, so little time.
Wonderful presentation, bery interesting and well, presented!
I suppose in this day and age, we should not be shocked that unethical capitalism funded **** Germany. Dr. Ballard’s usual superb examination of a frightening topic.
Kate does a terrific job of weaving all these American ex-pats together. It's been fascinating. The Anglo-American community in Florence was small. Lots of opportunities for these artists to meet and mingle. Getting an overview of the known and new- to- me artists has been fun.
I am a professional artist and thought I knew a lot about Mark Rothko, but wanted to be more informed before I travel to Paris to see the Landmark Rothko Exhibition. I will be leading a small tour of my own while there. Dr. Hirsh's lecture was just superb - engaging, well-organized with many aspects of Rothko's life and career that I didn't know about, with great photos I had not yet seen. Her analysis of artworks was beautiful described, in addition to his career development. I highly recommend her lecture, and look forward to attending more from her on different topics in the future.
Fascinating presentation- learned a lot
Enjoyed the presentation and learned a lot.
As usual Dr Bell presented an excellent overview on the Civil War as well as focus subjects not on a traditional syllabus
This session was loaded with new items related to the civil war that I was unaware of..
Dr. Bell’s two level approach to the war really made the elements and topics stand out and memorable.
I've loved this whole series with Dr. Bell. I didn't realize how much I didn't know! I'm sorry that we only have a few more Context talks with him.
